I was 4 at the time..with me staring at a little baby in the crib. He stared back at me with a tiny smile on his face.
"Hello baby brother.."
Sailor:"baby noises."
I tickled his stomach with my tiny preschooler fingers. He giggled a lot. I smiled hearing his laugh..even the second he was born..I already felt a strong sibling connection. I brushed my hair out of my face, making sure he doesn't grab on it and plays with it.
A few years pass, with me now being nine and Sailor being 5. We were playing in the yard,at the time we had an in ground pool, and something happened.
Sailor:"Sis watch this!"
"Ok!"
He started to do cartwheels around the pool, and he fell in. I screamed in shock and was about to jump in to get him when he resurfaced laughing his head off.
Sailor:"Wee!!"
"But..you didn't have any lessons!"
Sailor:"Well I learn fast. Hehe!"
He playfully splashed me as mom came out to check on us And saw Sailor in the pool.
Pianist:"Oh dear God! How are you swimming??"
Sailor:"I don't know!"
She pulled him out of the pool and wrapped around a towel around him then leading both of us into the house. Another well known memory of my childhood: when I had a asthma attack. I don't have asthma anymore but I had it for a while. I was now 13, with Sailor being 9.. just watching a movie while our parents were at the store.
"I'm just going to get water,be right back bro."
Sailor:"Ok sis!"
I went to the kitchen, trying to get water from the sink when..I couldn't breathe. I couldn't understand why at the time and in a few seconds I started coughing. It felt like something invisible was pressed against my chest, preventing me from breathing. I couldn't call for help through my coughing and gasps for air. I collapsed. Then the next thing I knew..I woke up in the hospital with a breathing mask over my mouth and face.
Pianist:"Thank goodness.. Cartographer! Are you ok..?"
"Y-yeah mom..what happened..?"
Pianist:"You had an asthma attack..Sailor found you on the ground not breathing."
I laid on the bed, shocked. I heard that people can grow out of it but some people don't. I laid down and tried to sleep. I now have an inhaler because I still have trouble breathing from time to time.
I was 16 when I met my boyfriend. Well now my ex boyfriend. It was nice at first until he became more controlling. I broke it off a few days later. I was working on my school work when I gotten a phone call.
Survivalist:"Hey Honey?"
"Yes Dad?"
Survivalist:"Well your mom is starting to give birth!"
I put down the phone and gotten into the car to drive to the hospital. Sailor was sitting outside of the room already nervous.
Sailor:"I'm nervous."
"Me too..wonder what they will look like.."
???:"Waaaaaa!!"
We shot up hearing the cry, and we were about to go in when..we heard a siren come on. Doctors rushed to our mom's room. We sat there panicking for an hour until..
Doctor:"I have good news and bad news.."
"What is it.."
Doctor:"You have a new baby brother and..the bad news well.. your mom didn't make it."
My heart broke. I collapsed and began sobbing on the ground, wanting this to be a bad dream and my mom would come back. The funeral was more heartbreaking as I had to be held up because I was crying too much. I didn't have an easy next few months. But I kept going. I became a famous map-maker. Accidentally gotten my brother almost killed..but..I saw an odd place in the distance. It was the tunnels. I went in..and didn't look back.
